A Paper and a Pencil

I'm sitting in the train listening to music; yes it is like a tradition for most of us. No sooner you get in the train, plug the headphones in your ears and become oblivious to people around. I always think it is as much as for an escape as it is for serenity. Those rare moments you wish for the simplicity of paper and a pen, just to pen down the gush of emotions that bombards you.
There is nothing as good as the feel of your own handwriting on the piece of paper, the sweat and wet, little scratch and the uneven letters scribbled over. The thrill of the real work unfolding in front of your eyes, one cannot start to describe it.
May be we have evolved. From a monkey man to real humans for whom everything is just a click away, I mean literally a click away. The ever famous notebook and stylus, the nemesis, dominates our tech world. We are in a world where, Notebook replaces the uncomplicated notebook; books are eBooks read in Kindle and Nook rather than the book itself.
Yes we have evolved. I’m typing in a MS word which makes my life easier than the standard typewriter, using that would be really difficult now I guess. May be one day like telegraph, typewriters will be history.
The mere joy of turning the pages of a book, the cadence of the typewriter when you press the keys, the pure bliss in just looking at the work you have written by your own hands which shows obvious strain and pen marks ,they are the simple pleasures which I’m not sure anyone has time to savor.
Even while writing, I’m not sure if technology is a boon or bane, for I’m one of those who use those fancy gadgets. Yes we are conserving nature by technology, but there will always come a time when we yearn for the thing of the past.

Yes if only I have a paper and a pencil…
